Background
The Planning Unit of the Directorate General of Family Planning was established in 1992 with a view to establish better co-ordination and liaison with the Planning Cell of the MOH&FW, Planning Commission, other ministries and organizations and development partners. The unit is responsible for the collection and compilation of implementation progress of sectoral operational plans as an input to the MOH&FW’s monthly monitoring of its Annual Development Program (ADP).

Implementing Sector-wide Program Management Operational Plan
Planning Unit is implementing Sector-wide Program Management Operational Plan under the Health, Nutrition and Population Sector Program (HNPSP) from 2003 to 2010.

Objectives of the Sector Wide Program Management Operational Plan

Major Objective

To improve the performances of the Population sub-sector of the Health, Nutrition and Population Sector Program (HNPSP) and to enhance the efficiency with which resources for the sector are used.

Detail objectives

To facilitate planning process and participate in the formulation of different plans, programs and promote functional co-ordination within the sub-sector in a planned way.

To monitor program performance in the population sub-sector to facilitate better performance

To strengthen GO-NGO, stakeholders, public-private partnership and coordination with multi-sectoral agencies involved in population and development.
