Mohammadpur
Fertility Services & Training Centre (MFSTC) located at Aurangzeb
Road, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, was established as a special project in 1974
with the funding assistance from the 'Pathfinder Fund'. The center was
established with the purpose of delivering integrated health and family
planning services under one roof. MFSTC provides all types of family
planning services including temporary and permanent methods for prospective
male and female. In 1999 MFSTC was transferred to the revenue budget.
MFSTC plays an important role to achieve the target of the health &
family planning activities of Bangladesh.
This centre started its comprehensive EOC services from October, 2004.
ANC, PNC and normal delivery services are continuing since then. The
complicated cases in which Caesarian Section (C/S) is necessary, MCHTI,
Azimpur helps as a referral Hospital.
This
centre being a service-cum-training centre has been providing basic
and in-service training to health and family planning medical personnel
who are disseminating the technique to their respective centres. In
accordance with a declaration made by the honorable Prime Minister,
a decision was taken to upgrade the hospital to 100 bedded Mother and
Child Health Hospital.
Objectives
The objectives are
as follows:
To develop specialised and technical manpower through basic and in-service
training of all categories of health personnel, specially for MCHFP
and essential obstetric service to reduce maternal and infant mortality.
To strengthen both the institutional and service delivery capacity of
the MCHFP & HNPS programme through preventive and curative services
and health education, for improvement of maternal, neonatal and child
health.
To establish training unit at MFSTC & MCH Hospital, Mohammadpur
and to provide training to paramedics such as Health Worker, FWVs, Senior
FWVs. The training will also be provided to graduate and post-graduate
doctors.

- EOC services (ANC, PNC & normal delivery).
b. Male and female sterilization
c. Intra Uterine Device
d. Contraceptive injection
e. Implant (Norplant - subdermal implant)
f. Menstrual Regulation (MR)
g. Delivery of short term contraceptive methods (oral pill & condoms)
and follow-up service
h. Technical advice and family planning motivation
i. Diagnosis and treatment of pelvic inflammatory and sexually transmitted
diseases.
j. Mother's welfare and child health care
k. Immunization (EPI)
l. Male and female infertility services associated with or without contraceptive
use.
m. Training of doctors on clinical contraception, RTI/STI case management,
MR, PAC including Implant (Norplant), infection prevention and midwifery
n. Regular training of paramedics on clinical contraception, RTI/STI
case management, counseling, CMT, including Implant (Norplant), MR and
midwifery.
o. Refresher training of paramedics on clinical contraception and RTI/STI
case management.
