Clinical Contraception services include services of permanent (Tubectomy and Non-scalpel Vasectomy-NSV) and longer-acting (IUD and Implant) FP methods. It also deals with some contraceptives related back-up services like (1) management of complications/ side-effects and (2) recanalization of tubes and vas for those who lost all of their living children after getting tubectomy and vasectomy.

Objectives

Promote a more effective method-mix of CPR with increased share/ proportion of permanent and longer acting family planning method users.

Effectively increased coverage of permanent and longer-acting FP methods.

Upgrade UH&FWCs as user-friendly service delivery points.

Introduce new variety of longer-acting FP methods in the national FP program.

Other implementation modalities and activities

Providing financial support for permanent and longer-acting contraceptive services;

Strengthening service delivery provision in existing static centers;

Promoting intra and post-partum contraception;

Organizing special VSC program;

Assuring availability of essential commodities;

Increasing GO-NGO collaboration;

Regaining Demographic “Tempo Effect”;

Improving ‘Quality of Care’ and ‘Infection Prevention’;

Strengthening Regional FPCST/QAT;


Major components

Strategy:
(1) Shifting family planning use patterns towards more effective longer-term and permanent FP methods;
(2) Service quality improvement;
(3) Strengthening domiciliary visit for counseling & recruiting new clients;
(4) Promoting male participation and intra & post-partum contraception;
(5) Ensuring availability of services closed to users in friendly atmosphere.

Output:
(1) Increased share of permanent & longer-term FP users in methods mix CPR;
(2) Decreased dropout rate of contraceptives use;
(3) Reduction of TFR;
(4) Increased availability of clinical contraceptive services closed to users.
